GRANITE AT MCKINLEY BEACH

GTA ARCHITECTS / NEW CONSTRUCTION/ 25,000SM / KELOWNA, CANADA / 2016

Granite a McKinley Beach. A residential development sited on a natural granite bluff, overlooking the beautiful Lake Okanagan, in Kelowna, BC. The project is composed of roughly 100 condo units and 16 townhouses split over eight duplex’s.

Granite is used extensively throughout the architecture, keeping with the residence’s namesake. The use of granite as cladding for building exteriors ensured local sustainable materials were able to be used that could provide protection from the varying seasonal elements. Granite is also used extensively in landscaping and hardscaping, including retaining walls, walkways, and patios, creating a sense of cohesion and connection between the buildings and their natural context.
